After You….The Beginning….

I’m not going to post any spoilers or anything but I just wanted to jump up here and tell you guys how After You is so far.  In comparison to Me Before You I’m not as into After you as I was with the first book at this point.  I’m only a few chapters in but its not keeping my attention.  I hated to put the first book down and this one has been more like meh.  But I’m still reading it and I’m going to give it a chance.

Its not written badly or anything like that.  It is just lacking something that was there early on in Before you.  I’m hoping that it will eventually pick up. Like I said I wanted to update you guys on what I was thinking so far.  Wish me luck! 🙂

{Review} You by Caroline Kepnes

This book was amazeballs!!!  Like I said in my previous post it will really have you questioning your own sanity.  Its so chilling to read a book from behind the eyes of what is clearly an insane person but still feel a little sorry for them because the object of their obsession is just as crazy as they are.  There are so many words I can use to describe this book scary, hypnotic, and a little unsettling.  It is just really an awesome book.  After reading this book there are so many things that I’m terrified of doing now.  Simple things like tagging yourself at a place on facebook or talking about different things you like on twitter.  Not that I’m important enough to even have a stalker but honestly you just never know. LOL

The book begins with the insane inner monologue of a clerk at a New York bookstore named Joe Goldberg.  A girl walks into his store and he immediately claims that this girl has “come home to him”.  Once she is ready to check out you guys have a good back and forth banter that nobody would think twice about.  Just a slight flirtation.  But Joe is able to learn the cute girls name from her paying with her card.  It is Guinevere Beck.  But she just goes by Beck.

From that point on the lengths that Joe goes to stalk this woman are INSANE!  I know I’m using that word a lot but that is honestly the only word I can think of to describe it.  He steals her phone in order to read her emails, he breaks into her apartment and becuase she came home while he was snooping he had to jump out the window and he blamed her for it.  Even though at this point they had only met the one time.  Beck comes across as a typical girl she doesn’t seem to do anything out of the ordinary.  The longer Joe watches her, the worst of a person she becomes. At least in my opinion. She was terrible to her friends but was a complete doormat to her boyfriend and another friend named Peach.

I’m not going to give away too much because I really want you guys to read this book.  But needless to say is that Joe does everything in his power to be in Beck’s life including getting rid of those people that are in his way. *hint hint*   Joe is so meticulous in how he puts himself in Beck’s life that she never sees him coming.  And everything is going good until he finds out that Beck is interested in another guy.  Like I’ve said Beck was just as screwed up, well I take that back she wasn’t as bad as Joe but she was pretty bad.

My rating for this book is definitely 5 Stars.  The writing, the main characters, even the extra characters are so well described.  Caroline Kepnes is able to paint an entire scene and it honestly feels like you are in the book, like you are moving around the city with these people.  This is definitely an adult book I wouldn’t recommend anyone under 16 reading this book at all mostly due to the sexual content and the violence.  There is a sequel to this book called Hidden Bodies that continues Joe’s story.  From what I’ve read on the book jacket Joe is happy but he’s a little scared that his past is going to catch up to him.  I’m definitely excited to read that.

I hope you guys liked my review feel free to leave comments I’ll definitely respond. Happy reading guys!!

You the Novel is CRAZY GOOD!!!

Okay so I’m really supposed to be working right now but I cannot put this book down.  I’ve never read a book from the perspective of someone that is clearly and completely insane.  Being in the mind of Joe you honestly start to think that there is nothing wrong with what he’s doing but of course I know better!! But the thought is definitely still there.

I started the book last night which was a mistake because I have to get up for my 11 hour work day at 430 and didn’t start reading until about 930.  I actually had to make myself put the book down because it was just that good and I know I would have been reading until it was time for me to wake up.  Like I said I’ve been sneaking here at my desk and reading the book.  I’m not even half way done and I can’t wait until I’m done so I can review it.  Sorry for the excitement but I’m so very serious about how good this book is.  Alright I’m going to get back to work now.  Hope you guys are having a great Monday.  Until next time.

{Review} Red Queen By Victoria Aveyard

red_queen_book_cover_a_p

I picked this book up a couple of weeks ago after one of the people I follow on Instagram posted how good it was.  I also bought Glass Sword at the same time.  I know most people would expect you to read them back to back but I decided to take a break and read another book.  The plan is to read Glass Sword after the current book I’m reading.  So with all that being said lets get to my review.

The Red Queen takes place in a land where the color of your blood determines where you stand in life.  Red or silver.  The reds are the poverty-stricken citizens that serve the powerful silvers.  Mare Barrow is a 17 year old red.  She lives in the stilts where she has 3 older brothers and a younger sister.  Her older brothers have already been conscripted into the army and Mare having no skill other than being a thief will be headed that way on her 18th birthday.  Her family has hope in the form of her littler sister who is a gifted seamstress.  Mare’s best friend Kilorn is due to be conscripted in a few days and she is desperate to save them both.  A bombing, an injury, and a stranger land Mare as the one of the King’s servants.  An incident that should have been fatal happens and Mare finds herself  pretending to be silver and a long lost princess engaged to a Prince.

Can we talk about how Maven just screamed untrustworthy to me.  He just didn’t seem genuine at all.  His mother is this all powerful mind reader and we were supposed to believe that she didn’t see what was going on with Maven or Mare for that matter? Sorry for that little rant but he just upset me from the very beginning.  Cal on the other hand bothered me because of his clear love for Mare but his inability to speak up as well.  All that aside I really did enjoy this book.  The characters were all very well developed and I know I over use this statement but I cared about them.  Or didn’t care depending on who it was of course.  There are quite a few mysteries that don’t all get answered by the end of the book.  But that’s what part 2 is for.  I believe there are supposed to be 4 in the series. I hope not because I can’t even think of waiting that long for the conclusion of this series.

The book ended with us finding out that Mare’s brother Shade was not killed and he had powers as well as atleast 27 other people.  So I’m thinking the second book is about the Red Guard trying to get to those reds before Maven and his mother.  I’m not sure how they are going to be able to stay ahead of them though because they shared so much about what there were doing with Maven.  They never actually talked about if anything had happened to the safe haven that was held behind the radiation.  I truly hope that all those innocent people are fine.  Ms. Aveyard has no qualms about killing people though.  So that is a scary thought.  I know I’ve bounced all over the place with this review but I have so many thoughts in my head and they aren’t all coming out in chronological order.  In fact, I can’t promise that I won’t do another review once I’ve truly gotten my bearings. 🙂

So with all that being said.  I recommend this book and I give it 4 out of 5 stars.  It’s not appropriate for kids under 12.  I think its more aimed at the YA group of readers.  It was a great read.  A little action and a little love.  Because who doesn’t want a little love in the middle of a war? 🙂  I hope you guys enjoyed my little mind warp review.  See you next time.

{Review} Me Before You By JoJo Moyes

mebeforeyou

This is my first time reading a book by JoJo Moyes.  I think I told you guys that in my first post about this book.  I really enjoyed her writing style from start to finish the story kept me interested.  I would sneak and read this book at work as well and of course it had me tearing up at all the wrong times.  Co-workers were walking pass my desk asking me was I okay because I looked like I was going to cry.

Me Before You starts with a prologue of a man and a woman in 2007 talking about a vacation they are soon to be going on.  Will Traynor is getting ready to leave for work and he goes outside to catch a cab because he can’t ride his bike due to the weather.  The prologue ends with him being hit by a motorcycle and then nothing.  The first time we meet Lou Clark is two years later and she is walking home from the bus stop where she lives with her parents, her grandfather, her sister and her nephew.  Lou has lost her job at a local diner where she has worked for years.  She is also one of the primary breadwinners in her family.

She eventually takes a job as a caretaker for Will Traynor the man we were introduced to in the beginning.  Due to the accident he has been in a wheelchair ever since.  He is a quadraplegic who has limited use of one arm.  Mrs. Moyes’ writing of their love story was epic to me.  Reading her writing was like watching a movie.  It was wonderful and heartbreaking all at once.  I shed more then a few tears reading about how Lou was searching for vacation ideas for them to go on so she could save his life.  Of course its awesome that this is being made into a book with Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke who I absolutely love because dragons!  But that’s another story all together.  Sam Claflin is from Hunger Games and a shirtless Claflin is not a bad thing to look at at all!  Okay back to the book Me Before You. 🙂

Just dealing with all this information was mind blowing because you feel so sorry for Will as well as his family and especially Lou.  I genuinely fell in love with this entire novel.  These characters were so well written that they feel like family or friends because their story was so relatable.  It has been a really long time since a book has affected me in this way.  I would recommend that anybody read this book.  Its pretty much age appropriate for most teenagers and for adults of all ages that love a really good love story.

I decided to start doing a star review in my reviews now and at this point this book gets a 5 Star Review. Again recommended for all ages.  I also recently found out that there is a sequel that came out in September of last year called After You.  I purchased it so I will be reviewing it soon. Hope you guys enjoy my review.

Me Before You & Red Queen

I started reading Red Queen the night that I finished Me Before You.  My work schedule has been so crazy that I haven’t had a chance to do my review of Me Before You. So I will definitely be doing my review for both books tomorrow.  Speaking of which did you guys know that there is a sequel to Me Before You? I was in Barnes and Noble and was walking pass the 20% and I saw After You by JoJo Moyes and I opened the cover and the first thing I saw was Lou Clark.  I got super excited. lol Don’t judge me too harshly if I’m the last person that knew about it.  I’m debating on what book I want to start on tomorrow.  I’m thinking of You by Caroline Kepnes.  It seems to have gotten really great reviews and I love a good creepy story.  Until tomorrow hope everyone has a great night.

All the feels of Me Before You….

Alright, so the day I finished David Bell’s novel I started with JoJo Moyes book Me Before You.  I’ve been working some really crazy hours and haven’t had the amount of time I would like to read.  But every free moment I have had my face has been stuck in this book.  This is the first time that I have read a book by her.  I swear the emotions I’m feeling reading this book are killing me.  Its like I have this sense of foreboding and I just can’t shake it.  The fact that I love these characters doesn’t help this feeling at all.  I genuinely love all these characters….well I can do with a little less Patrick and Treena but you know…plot.  I just wanted to let you guys know that my next review is coming soon.  As of last night I was on chapter 22.  So once I finish I’m going to try and do my review within a day.  Happy reading guys!!!
