Synopsis:  Van and Valencia are the perfect 80’s teenagers.  Van the big sports star and Valencia the head cheerleader.  The are the apple of everyone that meets them eyes.  From their parents to their little sister.  The little sister that everyone except Val ignores.  When tragedy strikes their family who will be left to pick up the pieces?

I received this book for this months Blind date with a book in my Facebook group.  I started reading it and I absolutely could not put it down.  It was really awesome.  The characters, the writing , the story just all of it.  And because this book was so good I’m going to do it spoiler free because I do NOT want to ruin it for anyone.

I went back and forth with myself about whether I would write in this part but I felt like it was crucial to the story but still not too much of a spoiler.  One thing that took me awhile to notice and I went back thru the story to see if I missed it.  I may have and if I did by all means correct me.  But the story is told from the viewpoint of the little sister.  She bounces back and forth between the past and her present life.  But the really crazy thing is you never know her name.  At no point in time did I see anyone say her name and considering the majority of the book is her talking about how she is mostly ignored by everyone in her life this just blew my mind.

You will go through this book feeling sorry for her about her past but kind of wanting her to let it go in her present.  she has a husband and what comes across on the surface as the perfect marriage.  However, nothing is ever as it seems, especially in this book.  There is so much sadness and confusion from her that you can’t help but to root for her.  The story really picks up when her husband Adrian receives a piece of mail from a mysterious address.  She opens it and receives the shock of her life.  She doesn’t know whether to confront her husband with this news or just let it go.  Her decision will shock you and the outcome will do even more than that.

There are so many crazy twists and turns in this story and you’re never absolutely never going to guess how it all turns out.  I’m still reeling from it myself.  but this is the best book I have read in a very long time.  I encourage all of you guys to read it as soon as you get the chance.  this is the first book I’ve read from this author but I see she has another one and I will definitely be checking that out.  I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was just that awesome!  There is implied violence and implied sexual things but it isn’t really spoken.  so this book is good for YA audiences and above.  If you have read or when you do read this book please leave me a comment because I would love to talk about it with someone.  Hope your day is awesome!!!
