Hi you guys!!! I know long time no see.  But work has been keeping me ridiculously busy for the past couple of months and I haven’t had much time to do anything.  I have read so many books but have not had the opportunity to blog about them.  I have a few in my drafts so I will be pushing those out they just aren’t going to be in order.  Sorry 😦

So I decided to blog about this entire series since I managed to finish all three books in a little over a week.  And I honestly didn’t feel the need to separate them.  I’ve also heard that they are talking about making this series into  movies.  I’m still not sure how I feel about that just yet.

I will say that as a whole the series was written really well.  It made me really not want to put the books down which is how I was able to get through them so fast.  Charlie Holmberg’s writing literally transports you into his story.  I may or may not have felt like a real paper magician. 🙂

Mr. Holmberg’s writing aside.  One thing that was constant throughout the entire series was how much of a complete brat Ceony Twill was.  I mean from the very beginning up until the very end.  She truly got on my nerves.  Which once again shows the writing power of Charles.

The Paper Magician starts with Ceony walking into Magician Emery Thane’s residence.  The reader is immediately drawn into the magic of the book just based on the description of Emery’s house.  This world would make anybody long to be a magician.  Ceony was forced into being a paper magician so she is not happy at all about it.  And she does nothing to hide her distaste.  There are all kinds of magicians those that control paper, metal and fire.  There are also those that are called excisioners.  They practice blood magic and the ways they go about getting that blood are not always the nicest.  The entire series is about Emery and Ceony trying to fight those that use blood magic and prevent them from hurting people.  And if you can get past the irritating nature of Ceony then you will definitely enjoy this series.  I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.  I would recommend these books for young adults and above just because of the things the blood magicians do may be a little to gory for younger readers.  All in all it was a great series and you will not be disappointed with the story or the writing.  Happy reading!!
